Weekly Traditions
Every Sunday at 10 PM, Baumer Bucs gather in the St. Martin de Porres Chapel in the dorm to celebrate Mass. In Baumer, we have a strong sense of inclusion. As such, we invite those of all backgrounds and from all dorms to join us in community at Mass!
Sunday Mass at 10pm
Baumer Banana Bread (BBB) Mass
Established in 2023 by freshman Matthew Scherber, BBB Mass has quickly grown from a dedicated group of Baumer residents to a popular event that attracts men and women from across campus. Enjoy a beautiful Wednesday night Mass celebrated by Fr. Pete, and hang around afterwards for warm, freshly baked banana bread!
Baumer Table in South Dining Hall
Baumer has a dedicated table in South Dining Hall so that no Buc eats alone. Whether it be breakfast, lunch, a mid-afternoon snack, or dinner, pick a spot at Baumer Table and you’ll always find yourself in good company.
Signature Events
Buc-An-Ear
Started years ago by former President Russell Henggeler and Vice President Mattia Bernocco, this Baumer event is popular among Baumer residents and the campus community beyond. During Bay Week, our signature event week in the spring, Baumer Bucs set up a grill-out and sell corn on the cob for just one buck. All proceeds go to the charity!
The campus community was calling for a way to celebrate and acknowledge student bands. Baumer answered and created the music festival VoyageFest. To cap off Bay Week each year, student bands across campus (with special slots filled by Baumer residents, including former VPs Shane Wall and Pat Feit) perform over several hours under the lights in the Bay. It’s a special event that’s quickly becoming a dorm and campus favorite. SCAB!
Baumer VoyageFest
Searching for a scare on a South Bend Halloween night? Look no further than Baumer Hall. The bucs transform the basement and a residential floor into a full-fledged haunted house. Spooky decorations, blacked-out lights, planned “scare room” acts, and of course the many bucs that volunteer as scarers all make Baumer Boo THE place to be on Halloween night. We can’t guarantee that there aren’t real ghosts in Baumer these nights; some say they leave feeling an extra presence with them!
