Welcome Aboard
home of the bucs
Welcome to the best hall at the University of Notre Dame. No, seriously. Baumer Bucs make up a brotherhood unlike any other on campus. The four years you spend at Notre Dame are marked by the strong community we share in Baumer. Whether it’s eating a meal altogether at the signature Baumer Table™ in South Dining Hall, grilling burgers in Baumer Bay on a nice fall day, or winning intense soccer matches with our Sporting Pepto Soccer Team, Baumer Hall is a visible representation of the finest quality of men. You can recognize a Baumer Buc by his sincerity, care for others, and sense of inclusion.
The Seventh Voyage
This year marks our seventh year of being the best dorm on campus, and we’re committed to continuing this legacy on what we all call The Seventh Voyage. To all our first-years, congratulations on your selection to become a member of this great hall, and we look forward to your arrival in August. Our Welcome Weekend Team has been putting in the hours this summer to make sure of a safe and sound arrival on the ship. Your journey awaits.
Meet the Welcome Weekend Captains
Captain
Zack Morris
My name is Zack, and I’m one of your Welcome Weekend Captains this year. I’m majoring in Finance and Strategic Management with a Theology minor, and I spend my summers back home in Illinois working as a project manager. Outside of class, I’m usually playing golf, pickleball, volleyball, messing around with Legos, or watching sports. I’m always down to jump on an intramural team, so hit me up if you ever need a sub.
I stay pretty busy around campus running club sports and handling the apparel and service commissions for the dorm, but all of that takes a backseat to getting you guys moved in. We have a solid crew in Baumer Hall, and everyone is genuinely pumped to welcome you guys aboard and help you hit the ground running.
Gentlemen, welcome to the show. Go Bucs!

A Letter To New Students From Will and Zack
Welcome to Baumer Hall, Gentlemen!
On behalf of our fellow Buccaneers, we are incredibly pumped to meet you and welcome you aboard. As you settle in, you will quickly discover that Baumer is far more than just a beautiful building on West Quad. It is a tight-knit community of friends and lifelong brothers. Baumer is a vibrant hall built on brotherhood, charity, faith, and celebration. We are known across campus as a “place of special welcome,” full of guys who truly show up for one another. The Baumer brotherhood is unmatched. Whether it is packing the sidelines in support of Sporting Pepto soccer, screaming from the front rows of Bengal Bouts, or hitting the sand volleyball courts, Bucs always show out. Our support goes way beyond sports, too. You will find Baumer guys sitting together in the front row of campus recitals, heading to ballet concerts, filling the pews of our chapel, and hanging out in the lounges during late-night study sessions. No matter what your passion is, you will have a hall full of brothers behind you.
In a few short weeks, you will be on campus trying to fit a futon into the elevator, running around with your fellow freshman Bucs, and making those last-minute Target runs. While the frenzy of Welcome Weekend is an absolute thrill, we know it can feel a bit overwhelming at times. That is why we Captains, our Welcome Weekend team, the RAs, and the entire hall staff are here for you every step of the way.
If you or your parents have any questions as you prepare for move-in, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Our emails are linked above, and we would love to hear from you.
Enjoy these final weeks of summer. Rest up, get ready, and prepare to join the best dorm on campus. We cannot wait to see you at the docks on move-in day!

Welcome Weekend is an exciting time. Focus on moving in, and the Welcome Weekend Team will take care of the rest. For information on the events outside of Baumer during Welcome Weekend, check the official university-wide schedule here.
-
Each room comes with a mattress, wooden desk and hutch, a wooden desk chair, a wooden bed frame (loftable), and a wooden wardrobe with 3 drawers.
To maximize space, we recommend lofting your bed, and it helps to talk with your roommate about this beforehand. Ask the Welcome Weekend Team to help you loft your bed with a mallet then sit back and watch the magic happen.

While it varies between each resident, a former Baumer VP made a list of what he packed and ended up using during his first year at Notre Dame. The current administration approves!
